KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, accompanied by Acting KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Major General Phumelele Makhoba, led a multidisciplinary Operation Engangeni Ngesango Iyafohla targeting local businesses in Nquthu.
The high-impact operation formed part of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government’s intensified drive to address regulatory breaches, illegal trading and non-compliance within the local business sector.
Premier Ntuli joined law enforcement officials and other relevant authorities on the ground as businesses were subjected to compliance inspections aimed at ensuring that operators adhered to applicable laws and regulations.
The operation reinforced the Provincial Government’s position that economic activity must take place within the framework of the law and that businesses operating legitimately should not be disadvantaged by unlawful or non-compliant operators.
Operation Engangeni Ngesango Iyafohla brought together different organs of state and law enforcement agencies in a coordinated effort to strengthen compliance, uphold the rule of law and protect communities.
Premier Ntuli emphasised that restoring law and order required decisive enforcement alongside cooperation between government, law enforcement agencies, businesses and communities.
Following the operation, Premier Ntuli and the law enforcement leadership proceeded to the Nquthu Crime Fighting Imbizo at the Nquthu Sports Grounds.
The Imbizo provided a platform for the Premier, law enforcement authorities, community members, local leadership and other stakeholders to engage directly on crime, public safety and practical crime-prevention interventions.
The engagement also gave residents an opportunity to raise concerns and contribute towards solutions aimed at strengthening safety and stability within their communities.
The combination of intensified law-enforcement operations and direct community engagement formed part of the Provincial Government’s broader approach to confronting crime, strengthening regulatory compliance and ensuring that communities played an active role in creating safer environments.
KwaZulu-Natal, Inspiring New Hope.
