KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, has applauded the spirit of volunteerism and bravery shown by members of various community safety structures in uMsinga, under the uMzinyathi District Municipality.
Premier Ntuli commended the volunteers for their commitment to working with law enforcement agencies and communities in the fight against crime.
The Premier said community safety structures play an important role in strengthening crime prevention, improving crime detection and promoting safer communities across KwaZulu-Natal.
He emphasised that the Provincial Government remains committed to strengthening collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities to ensure that crime prevention interventions are more effective and responsive to the needs of residents.
Premier Ntuli assured members of the community safety structures that the Provincial Government is working tirelessly to ensure that volunteers are supported with the necessary tools of trade and other operational requirements.
He said the bravery and dedication shown by volunteers demonstrate that community safety is a shared responsibility requiring active participation from all sectors of society.
The Premier urged the business sector, religious fraternity, traditional leaders and other community stakeholders to become registered members of voluntary community crime-fighting structures.
He said broader participation will help foster safer communities in all corners of the province and strengthen partnerships aimed at protecting residents from criminal activity.
Premier Ntuli reiterated that government alone cannot defeat crime and that communities must continue working closely with law enforcement agencies to report criminal activity, prevent violence and promote stability.
The engagement reaffirmed the Provincial Government’s commitment to supporting community-based crime prevention initiatives and building safer communities through cooperation, accountability and active citizen participation.
