KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, delivered welcoming remarks at the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Gala Dinner held at the Chief Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban on Sunday, 16 August 2026.

The Gala Dinner formed part of the broader 46th SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government hosted in Durban, bringing together leaders from across the Southern African region.

In his address, Premier Ntuli welcomed the 16 SADC Heads of State and Government to KwaZulu-Natal and emphasised the importance of regional solidarity, cooperation and shared prosperity.

The Premier said the gathering provided an important platform to strengthen ties between SADC member states and reaffirm the region’s collective commitment to development, stability and economic growth.

Premier Ntuli highlighted the value of partnerships between neighbouring countries, saying regional progress depends on cooperation, mutual support and a shared vision for the future of Southern Africa.

He said KwaZulu-Natal was honoured to host leaders from across the region and to contribute to discussions aimed at advancing unity and prosperity among SADC member states.

The Premier further noted that regional integration remains critical to unlocking economic opportunities, strengthening trade and creating a more connected and resilient Southern African community.

He said the spirit of solidarity demonstrated at the Summit should continue beyond formal engagements and translate into practical cooperation that benefits citizens across the region.

Premier Ntuli reaffirmed KwaZulu-Natal’s commitment to supporting stronger regional partnerships and positioning the province as an important gateway for trade, investment and economic cooperation within Southern Africa.

The Gala Dinner provided an opportunity for SADC leaders and delegates to engage in a spirit of fellowship while celebrating the shared values, aspirations and development goals that bind the region together.

As host province, KwaZulu-Natal welcomed the SADC leadership and reaffirmed its commitment to contributing towards a more united, peaceful and prosperous Southern Africa.
