KwaZulu-Natal Director-General, Ms Nokuthula G. Khanyile, attended the launch and enrolment service of the St Mary Magdalene Guild at St Augustine Parish in Umlazi.

The St Mary Magdalene Guild is an integral part of the church, focusing on the principle of transformation, strengthening family values and contributing towards community development.

The launch provided an opportunity to recognise the important role played by faith-based organisations in strengthening families, nurturing communities and promoting values that contribute towards a more caring and cohesive society.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government continues to recognise the religious sector as a critical stakeholder in its efforts to advance moral regeneration and strengthen social cohesion across the province.

The establishment of the Guild on the eve of Women’s Day also carried particular significance as South Africa celebrates the contribution of women to families, communities and society.

The occasion reflected on the role of St Mary Magdalene in the life of Jesus Christ and, by extension, highlighted the pivotal role that women continue to play in building, nurturing and sustaining families and communities.

The Provincial Government acknowledges that women remain at the heart of community development and continue to make invaluable contributions in homes, workplaces, religious institutions and broader society.

The launch of the St Mary Magdalene Guild further reaffirmed the importance of partnerships between government, the religious sector and communities in promoting stronger family values, responsible citizenship, social cohesion and moral regeneration.

As KwaZulu-Natal commemorates Women’s Month, the occasion served as a reminder of the need to recognise, support and celebrate women whose leadership, compassion and service continue to strengthen communities across the province.
