KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the official opening of the Conlog laboratory at Dube TradePort, near King Shaka International Airport.

Conlog is a proudly South African company that has been producing water meters for more than six decades. The company employs more than 2 000 people and exports its products to 58 countries across the world.

The opening of the laboratory marks an important milestone for industrial development, innovation and investment in KwaZulu-Natal.

Delivering remarks during the ceremony, Premier Ntuli said the opening of the facility was not only a celebration of industrial excellence, but also a strong vote of confidence in KwaZulu-Natal as a province of opportunity, innovation and growth.

The Premier said Conlog’s presence at Dube TradePort demonstrates the importance of creating an enabling environment for businesses that contribute to manufacturing, exports, job creation and technological advancement.

He further noted that companies such as Conlog play a critical role in strengthening the province’s position as a competitive destination for investment, particularly in sectors linked to infrastructure, water management and smart technologies.

Quoting scientist Leonardo da Vinci, Premier Ntuli emphasised the importance of water in sustaining life, supporting industries and protecting the environment.

The Premier said water remains one of the most valuable resources, and innovation in water metering and management is essential in ensuring responsible usage, improved service delivery and long-term sustainability.

Premier Ntuli commended Conlog for its contribution to industrial growth, skills development and export competitiveness, saying the company’s global footprint reflects the capability of South African innovation to compete on the world stage.

He said the Provincial Government will continue to work with the private sector, investors and strategic economic zones such as Dube TradePort to accelerate inclusive economic growth, attract investment and create meaningful opportunities for the people of KwaZulu-Natal.

The opening of the Conlog laboratory reaffirmed KwaZulu-Natal’s commitment to building a resilient, innovative and industrially competitive provincial economy.
