KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, today attended the 21st Annual Dundee July Traditional Horse Racing event, one of the province’s premier cultural and sporting gatherings.

Premier Ntuli was joined by the MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Honourable Mntomuhle Khawula, the MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Reverend Musa Zondi, and other dignitaries.

Over the years, the Dundee July has grown into a major provincial event that brings together traditional horse racing, fashion, sport, arts, culture and heritage.

The event continues to attract thousands of spectators from across KwaZulu-Natal and beyond, while providing an important platform to celebrate traditional history and promote social cohesion.

Premier Ntuli said the Dundee July remains a powerful example of how culture, sport and tourism can work together to create opportunities for communities and stimulate local economic activity.

The event also provides opportunities for local businesses, traders, designers, artists and the hospitality sector to benefit from increased visitor numbers and economic participation.

The Premier commended the organisers, traditional horse racing participants, stakeholders and the community of Dundee for preserving and growing an event that has become an important part of KwaZulu-Natal’s cultural and tourism calendar.

He further noted that events such as the Dundee July play a meaningful role in promoting heritage, supporting rural and township economies, and showcasing the richness and diversity of KwaZulu-Natal.
