Durban ICC | 12 May 2026 - KwaZulu-Natal Premier Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli attended the official opening of the Africa Travel Indaba 2026 at Durban’s Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre on Tuesday, 12 May 2026.
The prestigious tourism trade showcase was officially opened by the President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, accompanied by Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille.
The Africa Travel Indaba remains one of the continent’s leading tourism marketing platforms, bringing together tourism stakeholders, buyers, exhibitors, government leaders and industry role-players from across Africa and the world.
Premier Ntuli’s attendance reaffirmed KwaZulu-Natal’s strategic role as one of South Africa’s premier tourism destinations and a key gateway to the African continent. The province continues to position itself as a destination of choice, offering a rich blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, coastal attractions, adventure tourism and world-class hospitality.
The event also provides KwaZulu-Natal with an important opportunity to showcase its tourism offerings, attract investment, strengthen partnerships and promote inclusive growth within the tourism sector.
The official opening of Africa Travel Indaba 2026 highlighted the importance of tourism as a driver of economic development, job creation and international cooperation, while reinforcing Durban’s position as a leading host city for major continental and global events.
