The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, has paid tribute to the province’s workers for their invaluable contribution to economic growth, social progress, and the overall development of society.
As South Africa commemorates Workers’ Day, Premier Ntuli has recognised the dedication, resilience, and sacrifice of workers across all sectors of the economy. He noted that workers remain the driving force behind production, service delivery, and economic activity, playing an indispensable role in sustaining industries, supporting communities, and advancing national development.
“Workers are the backbone of our economy. Through their hard work, commitment, and perseverance, they produce the goods we rely on, deliver the essential services that sustain our communities, and help drive economic growth and prosperity. Their contribution to building a stronger, more inclusive society cannot be overstated,” said Premier Ntuli.
The Premier emphasised that the protection of workers’ rights, dignity, and welfare remains a cornerstone of a just and democratic society. He reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government to advancing policies and programmes aimed at creating sustainable employment opportunities, combating workplace exploitation, and ensuring fair and safe working conditions for all.
Premier Ntuli further underscored the importance of strengthening partnerships between government, organised labour, business, and civil society in pursuit of an inclusive and resilient economy. He noted that meaningful collaboration with labour unions remains essential in shaping a future of shared prosperity, decent work, and equitable economic participation.
Premier Ntuli also commended the workers for their role in helping to restore the province’s reputation as an attractive and competitive destination for investment. Their productivity, professionalism, and commitment have contributed significantly to creating a conducive environment for business growth, investor confidence, and economic expansion.

Their efforts are central to the realisation of the 7th Administration’s vision of building smart, inclusive, and sustainable cities that will improve the quality of life for all our people,” the Premier added.
Premier Ntuli concluded by reaffirming government’s commitment to working hand in hand with workers and their representatives to build an economy that is inclusive, dynamic, and responsive to the aspirations of all citizens.
