KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli engaged with residents of Mpumalanga Township and surrounding areas as part of ongoing provincial efforts to combat crime and strengthen community safety across KwaZulu-Natal. The engagement formed part of the Provincial Government’s broader crime-prevention outreach aimed at fostering collaboration between communities, law enforcement agencies, and government structures.

During the interaction, community members raised concerns about persistent criminal activities affecting the township, highlighting issues ranging from safety fears to the negative impact crime has on the image, stability, and socio-economic prospects of the area. Residents emphasised the need for stronger police visibility, improved intelligence-sharing, and sustained interventions to restore community confidence.

Premier Ntuli listened attentively to the concerns raised and reaffirmed government’s commitment to intensifying crime-prevention initiatives through coordinated multi-sectoral approaches involving law enforcement agencies, community structures, and relevant stakeholders. He stressed that community participation remains a critical component in addressing criminality effectively.
