Eshowe | Friday, 2 January 2025 - KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli led a multi-sectoral roadblock in Eshowe, under the uMlalazi Local Municipality within the King Cetshwayo District Municipality, as part of the Provincial Government’s intensified festive season road safety operations.
The operation formed part of ongoing provincial efforts to promote road safety, enforce compliance with traffic laws, and strengthen coordination among key stakeholders responsible for law enforcement and public safety.
During the roadblock, Premier Ntuli engaged directly with motorists, passengers, and other road users, checking on their safety and wishing them a safe and secure journey as they travelled during the busy holiday period.
The multi-sectoral operation focused on reducing road accidents, curbing reckless and drunk driving, and promoting responsible road usage. Law enforcement agencies conducted vehicle checks and monitored driver behaviour to ensure adherence to road traffic regulations.
Premier Ntuli emphasised that road safety remains a shared responsibility between government and the public, particularly during peak travel periods when the risk of accidents increases.
The Provincial Government continues to roll out integrated road safety interventions across KwaZulu-Natal to protect lives, reduce fatalities on the roads, and ensure that residents and visitors arrive at their destinations safely.
