KwaZulu-Natal Premier Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli led the launch of the 365 Days Against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) Campaign outside the eThekwini Metro City Hall on Thursday, 11 December 2025, calling for intensified, coordinated action to combat the rising scourge of GBVF in the province.
The launch began with a peaceful march from King Dinuzulu Park to the City Hall precinct, where Premier Ntuli reiterated the Provincial Government’s deep concern over increasing GBVF incidents and reaffirmed its commitment to a year-round, multisectoral response.
Premier Ntuli stressed that addressing GBVF requires collaboration across all sectors, including law enforcement, faith-based organisations, community structures, the transport sector, and civil society.
“We must accept that Gender-Based Violence and Femicide requires all spheres of government, civil society, religious leaders, and other role players to drastically reduce GBVF statistics in our society,” said Premier Ntuli.
He further noted the growing number of unlicensed liquor outlets and widespread drug abuse as significant contributors to GBVF cases in communities.
The 365 Days Against GBVF Campaign forms part of the province’s intensified efforts to prevent violence, protect vulnerable groups, and mobilise communities to participate actively in creating safer, more resilient communities across KwaZulu-Natal.
