Ulundi, 23 July 2025 - KwaZulu-Natal Premier Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, joined by Members of the Provincial Executive Council, led the official Men’s Month Commemoration Programme in uLundi, under the Zululand District Municipality, reaffirming the province’s commitment to building a society grounded in positive values, respect, and responsible manhood.
The programme, which brought together traditional leaders, community organisations, men’s groups, and youth representatives, served as a call to action for men to become active agents of change in their homes, communities, and broader society. The gathering created a space for honest reflection, dialogue, and empowerment on the evolving role of men in building safer, healthier, and more equitable communities.
“This commemoration is not just ceremonial—it is a turning point. It is a declaration that we are building a KwaZulu-Natal where men rise to protect, nurture, and lead with integrity,” said Premier Ntuli.
The event featured keynote addresses, panel discussions, and cultural performances centred on key themes including gender-based violence prevention, mental health awareness, responsible fatherhood, and youth mentorship. Government departments and civil society partners also used the platform to offer counselling services, health screenings, and information on social support programmes.
Premier Ntuli called on men to reject harmful stereotypes and to embrace a new model of masculinity that champions empathy, accountability, and emotional strength.
“We cannot heal our province if our men remain silent in the face of abuse, inequality, and injustice. We need men who will speak up, step up, and stand tall for what is right,” he stated.
The Men’s Month programme forms part of the provincial government’s broader Moral Regeneration and Social Cohesion Strategy, which seeks to rebuild family and community structures, combat violence and substance abuse, and promote values-based leadership.
Premier Ntuli also commended the youth in attendance and encouraged them to become leaders in redefining what it means to be a man in today’s society—leaders who uphold dignity, protect women and children, and inspire their peers through example.
“True strength is not in dominance, but in dignity. Not in control, but in character. Let us raise a generation of men who lead with purpose and build with compassion,” he concluded.
KwaZulu-Natal’s 2025 Men’s Month commemoration in uLundi served as a powerful reminder that the future of the province depends not only on policies and plans, but on the hearts and actions of its people—especially its men.
