Ndwedwe, KwaZulu-Natal - KwaZulu-Natal Premier Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, together with Members of the Provincial Cabinet, visited Ndwedwe Local Municipality under the iLembe District as part of the province-wide Operation Sukuma Sakhe (OSS) outreach programme aimed at accelerating service delivery and community engagement.
During the oversight visit, Premier Ntuli inspected progress on a major water scheme currently under construction. Once completed, the scheme is expected to bring reliable water access to thousands of households across the municipality, significantly improving the quality of life for residents.
As part of Operation Siyahlola, the Premier also visited several community vegetable gardens, which play a vital role in addressing food insecurity and promoting sustainable livelihoods in rural communities.
A key highlight of the visit was the Premier’s on-site assessment of the damaged Thusong Centre—previously a central hub for accessing government services. After inspecting the extent of the destruction, Premier Ntuli committed to engaging with relevant departments and stakeholders to ensure urgent repairs and the swift restoration of services for the affected community.
The day’s programme concluded with a robust community engagement session, where residents from across the district—including KwaDukuza, KwaMaphumulo, Mandeni, and Ndwedwe—voiced concerns over pressing service delivery challenges. The Premier and his Cabinet responded to issues raised and outlined measures to improve responsiveness and accountability across local municipalities.
Premier Ntuli reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that no community is left behind in the delivery of essential services and sustainable development.
