Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, 20 May 2024 - KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli delivered the keynote address during the official launch of the Facility Operator Agreement at the Port of Richards Bay. The event marked a significant milestone in the province’s efforts to drive economic development through collaborative partnerships between the public and private sectors.
In his address, Premier Ntuli described the agreement as a powerful symbol of synergy between government and industry, highlighting the importance of working together rather than in opposition. He noted that such partnerships are essential to unlock the full potential of KwaZulu-Natal’s ports as engines of trade, logistics, and regional growth.
“The Facility Operator Agreement is a true demonstration of the unbroken interconnectedness between the private and public sectors,” said Premier Ntuli. “It reflects our shared commitment to building an efficient, modern port system that responds to the needs of the economy and the people.”
Premier Ntuli further stated that the collaboration at the Port of Richards Bay will enhance operational capacity, improve responsiveness, and position KwaZulu-Natal as a key logistics hub within South Africa and beyond.
The launch event was attended by government officials, business leaders, and key stakeholders from the maritime and logistics sectors, all unified in their commitment to strengthening economic infrastructure and service delivery at the provincial and national level.
