KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, has commended the swift and coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies and emergency services in apprehending the perpetrator responsible for the tragic death of a 3-year-old boy in the Tongaat area.
On Friday morning, members of IPSS Search & Rescue, IPSS Tongaat, SAPS K9 Search & Rescue, Durban Metro Police Search & Rescue, Mobiclaw, and ER24 joined forces to search for the missing child. This search followed a horrific incident where the child’s 7-year-old brother was viciously attacked with a panga, allegedly by their stepfather, leaving the older boy in critical condition.
Tragically, the child’s remains were discovered around 2 PM and handed over to the South African Police Service for further investigation.
Premier Ntuli expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and condemned the heinous act in the strongest terms.

I commend the police and all stakeholders for their swift action in apprehending the suspect. We trust the justice system will ensure that the perpetrator is held accountable for this barbaric act."*
The Premier also extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the young boy and urged communities to remain vigilant in reporting any signs of abuse or violence.
"It is imperative that we work together to protect the most vulnerable members of our society. No child should ever have to endure such pain and suffering," Premier Ntuli added.
KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of a 3-year-old boy in the Tongaat area and has called for the justice system to impose the harshest possible punishment on the perpetrator.
"The killing of this innocent child is a crime beyond comprehension, and the pain inflicted upon the family and community is immeasurable. We call upon the law to ensure that the perpetrator faces the full might of justice. Such heinous acts must not go unpunished," said Premier Ntuli.
The Premier praised law enforcement agencies for their swift action in arresting the suspect and recovering the child’s body, while reiterating the Provincial Government’s commitment to protecting vulnerable members of society and intensifying the fight against violence.
"We must remain united as a society to eradicate violence, particularly against children. Together, we can ensure a safer KwaZulu-Natal for all," added Premier Ntuli.
The Premier extended his deepest sympathies to the family of the young boy and assured them of the Provincial Government’s support during this tragic time.
