KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli conducted a comprehensive community outreach visit to the oThobothi Community Health Centre (CHC) in Msiyane, under the Jozini Local Municipality in the Umkhanyakude District. This engagement formed part of Operation Siyahlola, an initiative aimed at monitoring service delivery across the province. During his visit, Premier Ntuli interacted directly with CHC staff and patients, discussing their needs and concerns and gaining insights into the healthcare services provided to the community.
Following the visit to the CHC, Premier Ntuli proceeded to the Msiyane hawkers’ stalls, where he engaged with local traders. In a move that brought optimism to the stall owners, Premier Ntuli announced that the Jozini Local Municipality has committed to constructing permanent structures for the hawkers. This development will provide stability and security for the traders, who play a vital role in the local economy. Additionally, the Municipality has pledged to install much-needed ablution facilities at the stalls, restoring dignity and improving the environment for these community vendors.
Premier Ntuli’s day concluded with a community engagement session at the Bhambanana Sportfield in Ward 8 of the Jozini Local Municipality, as part of Operation Sukuma Sakhe. This initiative focuses on collaborative community development, involving both government and local stakeholders. Premier Ntuli, accompanied by Members of the Executive Council, listened to residents’ feedback and reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by communities in the Umkhanyakude District.
