As part of ongoing efforts to combat criminality through heightened police intervention and ensure effective service delivery, the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, is focusing on strengthening community policing and improving access to quality basic services. This initiative seeks to foster stronger relationships between communities, government, and law enforcement agencies.
Premier Ntuli, accompanied by the MECs and the South African Police Service (SAPS), will conduct a *Community Izimbizo and Service Delivery Monitoring Programme* in Caluza, Pietermaritzburg, under the Umgungundlovu District Municipality.
The objective of this programme is to engage directly with the community, hear the challenges they face, and identify practical solutions to enhance service delivery and address crime. Premier Ntuli will use this platform to listen to residents' concerns firsthand and to discuss strategies that will enable the government to effectively respond to these issues.
The engagement will focus on serious and violent crimes affecting these communities, as well as the police’s responses to them. Community members will also have the opportunity to address the Premier directly, sharing their experiences regarding the delivery of essential services.
Members of the media are invited to attend the community meetings, which will take place as follows:
