The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal Mr Thamsanqa Ntuli wishes the Springboks well in their Test match against Ireland which will take place at the Kings Park Rugby Stadium, on Saturday 13 July 2024.
"It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I extend my best wishes to the Springboks rugby team as they prepare to take on Ireland in Durban. Our province has a rich rugby heritage and a deep passion for the sport, and we are honoured to host this thrilling encounter.
Premier Ntuli said that as people of KwaZulu-Natal, we are inspired by the fact that several Boks players come from the Sharks team. “So, this test match is more of a home game and go out there and use your home ground advantage, the home Province advantage. We urge all the sport loving people to go out and show the world that we are better together’ said Premier Ntuli
The Premier urged the Springboks to emulate the electric Loftus Versfeld performance on Saturday last week, when they beat Ireland 27-20 in their first home Test since winning the Rugby World Cup last year. He urged the Shark Tank crowd to drown the Irish with song, dance and drums.
“Since winning the World Cup, the Springboks have consistently demonstrated resilience, determination, and an unyielding spirit on the field. As they face this formidable opponent, we want them to know that the entire province of KwaZulu-Natal stands firmly behind them, cheering them on with unwavering support,” said Premier Ntuli.
Premier Ntuli urged Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus and Captain Siya Kolisi to continue to fly the country’s flag aloft by inspiring the winning spirit in the Springboks team.
“To the players, coaches, and support staff, I say: your hard work, dedication, and passion for the game inspire us all. You carry the hopes and dreams of millions of South Africans on your shoulders, and we stand behind you in every tackle, scrum, and try.
The Premier concluded by assuring the Springboks that the entire Province is behind them.
“May this match be another chapter in your remarkable legacy, and may your performance echo the resilience and determination that define the people of KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa as a whole. We are all rooting for you. Go Bokke Go!” concluded Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli.
