With a rich history of resilience and progress, this year's installment of the annual commemoration marked the significant milestone of the 30th anniversary since South Africa's democratic breakthrough in 1994.
Under the resonating theme of "30 Years of Democracy, Partnership, and Growth," the event served as a momentous occasion to reflect on the accomplishments of the past three decades. It highlighted the pivotal role of partnerships among diverse stakeholders and social partners in fostering inclusive growth and development across the region.
Led by the esteemed Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Nomusa Dube-Ncube, the celebrations kicked off with fervent activations and a colourful cultural parade in Gamalakhe. The Premier's presence underscored the government's commitment to honouring the journey towards freedom and equality.
A highlight of the day was the participation of Team KZN, the champions of the 2024 National Golden Games, adding an extra layer of excitement and unity to the festivities. Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube joined the spirited crowd in commemorating the historic occasion, which symbolised the resilience and unity of the nation.
The event also served as a platform to address the province's readiness for the upcoming general elections, scheduled for next month.
