The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government, through the Office of the Premier, wishes to inform the people of KwaZulu-Natal and the whole country that the rollout of events marking the commemoration of King Dinuzulu ka Cetshwayo are proceeding well.
King Dinuzulu’s gallant fight against colonialism is immeasurable. He defended the land with his life.
We remain deeply indebted to the Zulu Royal Family for the guidance during ongoing consultations around such events of national and international importance.
Yesterday, 06 March 2024 KwaZulu-Natal Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube presided over a wreath laying ceremony in a cell at Old Pietermaritzburg Prison where the late King was incarcerated.
She was accompanied by the MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture Dr Ntuthuko Mahlaba, the Mayor of uMgungundlovu District Municipality Cllr Mzi Zuma, Amabutho and other dignitaries.

Other activities planned in partnership with academics, historians and other cultural groups include:
1. King Dinuzulu Commemorative Conference;
2. King Dinuzulu Choral Music Eistedfod;
3. Research and publication on the role that King Dinuzulu and other Traditional leaders in KZN ( escalated to RSA) in delivering the Democracy we enjoy today;
4. Film and Video Documentary for posterity.
KwaCeza has been chosen as the venue for the Commemoration event of the 16th March 2024 because this is where King Dinuzulu launched his final and decisive attack against the colonialist. This is a war that was fought in the eastern parts of the town of Nongoma where King Dinuzulu emerged victorious.
It is also the site from which a Christian Pastor Rev Paul Mthimkhulu was asked by the King to pray for the attacking army of uSuthu ( Dinuzulu's army was known as uSuthu). Rev Mthimkhulu read the Scriptures( June 1886), Deuteronomy 30 verses one to 20
