Today marks the beginning of an exciting journey for 200 dedicated individuals. These recruits, carefully selected from a pool of over 22,000 applicants, are embarking on a transformative path as they commence their Traffic Officers Diploma Course. Over the next 12 months, they will undergo intensive training, equipping themselves with the knowledge and skills necessary to become law enforcement officers, authorized to maintain order on our roads.

By the end of this rigorous program, they will attain an NQF Level 4 qualification, a testament to their dedication and commitment. These 200 recruits represent the cream of the crop, and their lives are about to change forever as they prepare to hit the streets, ensuring the safety and regulation of our roadways.

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube, along with the MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Sipho Hlomuka, Member of Provincial Legislature Bishop Vusi Dube, and several other dignitaries, came together on a sunny Friday morning, September 8, 2023, to celebrate a significant milestone at the RTI Training College in Pietermaritzburg. The occasion marked the awarding of appointment letters to more than 200 Trainee Traffic Officers, injecting new life into the province's efforts to bolster road safety and employment opportunities. This event was part of the Provincial Government's ambitious mass employment initiative, S’thesha Waya Waya.

As the sun bathed the city of Pietermaritzburg in golden warmth, a vibrant and carnival-like atmosphere took hold of the RTI Training College. Hundreds of attendees, including the proud family members and friends of the trainee traffic officers, gathered to witness this auspicious occasion. The event was not only a significant career milestone for the trainees but also a cause for celebration for the entire community.

The awarding of appointment letters was no ordinary ceremony; it symbolized hope, opportunity, and the fulfillment of dreams for the newly appointed Trainee Traffic Officers.
