This year's theme for World AIDS Day is “Rock the Ribbon.”
The National AIDS Trust is committed to stopping new cases of HIV, securing the rights of people living with HIV, and fighting HIV stigma and discrimination.
A briefing session was held at the Thusong Service Centre in KwaMdakane Area to commemorate World Aids Day.
The KZN MEC for Education, Ms Mbali Frazer accompanied by the KZN MEC for COGTA, Mr Sihle Zikalala visited the Khumalo and Buthelezi family in the KwaMdakane Area in Danhauser.
The first house visited was the Khumalo Family.
This family will be assisted through Government Sukuma Sakhe program to take care of their needs.
A commitment was made to construct a descent house.
The second house visited was the Buthelezi Family. This family have been assisted with a prefab home as a temporary measure, while they are waiting for the construction of their house.
The family have been assisted with obtaining child support grants.
The MECs visited the families to assess their situation, after Government recent interventions and to provide further support to the families.
Also attending the World Aids' Day Commemoration was the KZN Department of Education's HOD, Mr Nkosinathi Ngcobo.
