KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Sipho Hlomuka, is determined to bring services to the people of KZN by providing an accessible road network.
This time MEC Hlomuka roll out Operation Siyazenzela to improve the road network of uMsinga.
Operation Siyazenzela is a catalyst and vehicle for bringing service delivery to local municipalities. This program seeks to combine resources and focus on rapid results, which includes personnel and equipment that will be steered towards those priority areas. This program will be rolled out in all local municipalities of the province with priority given to improving gravel roads. A total of 34 km will be re-gravelled under this program in uMsinga Local Municipality.
MEC Hlomuka also launched initiatives to fight stock theft, which is one of the crimes affecting the area of uMsinga.
This is in line with the roll-out of the recently launched Festive Season Safety Campaign. The aim is to come together to find lasting solutions with the community of uMsinga while strengthening the relations between the police, the community and crime fighting structures in the area. They will also emphasise the importance of stock branding, which is necessary to help owners identify their livestock in case of theft. Other areas that have also been affected by stock theft is eMachunwini and eMahlaba in uMsinga.
MEC Hlomuka was then be joined by Traditional leaders, the police and community crime fighting structures.
