KwaZulu-Natal Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube lead a government delegation that will meet the leadership and community of uPhongolo to discuss long-term solutions to deal with road safety issues, with a focus fixed firmly on truck compliance.
This engagement forms part of a series of interventions led by the provincial government after the fatal crash on the N2 in uPhongolo, which claimed 20 lives.
As a mark of respect for the 20 victims who lost their lives, Premier Dube-Ncube will also meet the bereaved families to provide social relief and join interfaith leaders during a special prayer for an end to road carnages.
The Premier, who will be joined by MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Sipho Hlomuka, will also participate in an intensified law enforcement operation which will ensure the consistent enforcement of traffic laws in order to improve road safety in KZN.
