The institution of traditional leadership continues to shape our communities.
We continue to forge strong partnerships while also nurturing our relationship so that there is a formidable base from which programmes that benefit both communities and governments' development agenda can be executed.
Yesterday, 23 August, we learned of the unfortunate passing of Inkosi Busangokwakhe Khanyile (69) of the Izindlozi Traditional Council in Nkandla.
Inkosi was one of the key members of the local house of traditional leadership in King Cetshwayo and played an active role in promoting the development of his community.
His open-door policy on issues of development enabled the government to work seamlessly in the area that Inkosi was leading.
As a department, we are saddened by the passing of Inkosi and wish to express our condolences to His Majesty for he has lost one of his soldiers. We also wish to send our deepest condolences to the family and to isizwe.
We have assigned senior management from the department to assist the family during this difficult period.
