"Today we are here to ntroduce a contractor to build 300 houses of about 1000 houses. More than R40, 9 million has been invested as part of Malabela Rural Housing Project in Big Five Local Municipality," Jomo Sibiya addressed the the community. He added that shoddy houses that were constructed by a contractor in 2005 are receiving urgent attention. About 76 will be demolished and rebuilt and 101 will be refurbished with a budget of more than R22 million.
"We commit to work with the institution of traditional leadership - Amakhosi and Izinduna to ensure that people in deep rural areas are not left behind. Importantly, living in a rural area of Nquthu myself, I know that there are higher levels of underdevelopment and poverty. It is for these reasons we are focusing on rural areas such as Umkhanyakude and others," MEC Jomo Sibiya emphasized.
