The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal Sihle Zikalala confirms that on behalf of the Provincial Government and the people of KwaZulu-Natal, he has submitted a request to His Excellency President Cyril Ramaphosa for the granting of the state funeral to be determined by the Presidency in honour of the distinguished role played by the departed Regent of the Zulu Nation, Queen Shiyiwe Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu.
Her Majesty the Queen passed away on Thursday, 29 April 2021 after an illness.
The application of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government is indeed being considered by the Presidency, taking into account all matters tabled and submitted in the proposal.
The KZN provincial government will await further communication and feedback from the Presidency.
Her Majesty’s passing has traumatised the entire nation which had barely recovered from the colossal demise of His Majesty, King Zwelithini kaBhekuZulu.
Premier Sihle Zikalala and the Provincial Government wish to appeal to all citizens to put the Zulu Royal Family in their prayers as they navigate these extraordinary and painful times.
The nation is asked to observe the period of mourning. The government appreciate the outpouring of support the citizens are giving to the Royal Family and the entire Zulu Nation.
