KwaZulu-Natal Premier Mr Sihle Zikalala sends his deepest condolences on behalf of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government to the family, friends and relatives of Orlando Pirates boss and Premier Soccer League chairman Dr Irvin Khoza on the passing of his wife Mantwa Khoza on Friday.
As the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government we’re deeply saddened by the passing of Ausi Mantwa Khoza. It's not only the Khoza family that has suffered a great loss but the country as a whole.
Without the motivation, support and counsel from this unsung heroine Dr Khoza would not have succeeded in the monumental work he has undertaken to serve our county through the beautiful game of football.
Ausie Mantwa’s life may have not been frequently chronicled in public platforms, however, she led an extraordinary life of supporting her husband and keeping the family together as national duties would have demanded her husband to be away most of the time.
She has contributed to the many monumental legacies in our country through the unflinching support she gave to Dr Khoza.
It is credit to her that PSL Chairman Khoza built Orlando Pirates to be a successful institution that it is today that went to win the first ever Africa Champions Cup for South Africa.
Dr Khoza has been in involved in arduous national tasks that eventually saw South Africa being granted the rights to host the first ever Soccer World Cup in 2010.
Dr Khoza has been very supportive of the province and has a good working relationship with the KZN Provincial Government.
Ausi Mantwa withstood many challenges of her partner being away but always put the national interests first.
In her departure we mourn deeply but also celebrate the lessons of life she has bequeathed to us.
We convey our deepest sympathies to the family for the passing of their mother and a pillar. We trust they will be comforted by the sweet and fond memories they shared with Mrs Khoza over the many years.
Premier Zikalala wishes the Khoza family strength and solace during this difficult time.
