NDWEDWE COMMUNITY THROWS BIG PARTY TO CELEBRATE MR SIHLE ZIKALALA'S APPOINTMENT AS KWAZULU-NATAL PREMIER
There were scenes of joy as thousands of people converged in Ndwedwe today to celebrate the appointment of Mr Sihle Zikalala as the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal.
Mr Zikalala who was elected as Premier after the May 8 elections, grew up in Ndwedwe where he got involved in politics at a very young age.
The party, which was also attended by MECs, mayors, traditional leaders and the Premier's spouse Mrs Neli Zikalala, was organised by local traditional leader, Mr Wiseman Ngcobo.
"This is a big day for us. We decided to organise this party so that we can celebrate with the Premier, our son who has put Ndwedwe on the map. We are proud of what he has done for the people of KwaZulu-Natal," said Mr Ngcobo.
Mr Zikalala, who is also the Chairperson of the rulling African National Congress in KZN, was described by speakers as a dedicated servant of the people.
"Today we are celebrating the achievements of a man who has dedicated his life to serving the people. We are very proud to have watched him grow to become a leader he is today."
The Premier thanked his community for their support as he embarks on a journey to take KwaZulu-Natal to greater heights.
"The support I continue to get from the people of KwaZulu-Natal is amazing. Working together with our communities, we will be able to improve the delivery of services."
