25 December 2019
Year 2019 will be recorded as the year that saw leaders from all sectors of our communities and captains of industry working tirelessly to make KwaZulu-Natal a better place economically and socially. I would like to express my appreciation to all of you for being a source of inspiration.
The experiences that you have shared with all of us in the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs – together with our entities - will assist in making 2020 even better.
As an elected leader, deployed to drive socio-economic development, I shall never stop all efforts aimed at making KwaZulu-Natal a stronger province economically and socially.
Weighing heavily on my mind is the thought that thousands of children and women are going to bed without food this festive season.
As South Africans, we are known to be a nation that has shared fears and hopes. Let us share whatever we have with those who are less fortunate especially this Christmas Day.
The happiness of all citizens, regardless of their religion or beliefs, is the fundamental pillar of unity. Preserving unity is everybody's responsibility. We hope that unity would bring love and happiness to you on the Christmas Day.
In the New Year, we should intensify our efforts on driving socio-economic development throughout the corners of the province. We want to ensure that those who remained marginalized are assisted to access economic opportunities.
We will continue to work with captains of industry to ensure that we lift millions of people out of poverty.
We cannot defeat poverty if we believe poverty is a problem only for the poor people.
Let’s join hands and Build Hope for a Better Future.
Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year with new hopes and new beginnings!
