MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development as Champion of uMzinyathi District was out and about the district to visit various Agricultural Projects in the area.
As part of the Departmental mandate, MEC visited Ratanang Disabled Centre where the Department has invested over R70 000 in a Mushroom structure as part of food Security and started an institutional garden to assist the centre. They also complained about lack of water of which the MEC donated a Jojo tank together with implements to further assist Ratanang Disabled Centre.
As part of "One Home One Garden", MEC visited Gcinile Ngobese to donate garden implements to encourage her to continue planting. As a token of appreciation Gcinile Ngobese gave MEC Mthembu a Rooster as a gift.
MEC also visited Mbatha household who have an issue with goats destroying their garden. The Department donated garden implements and Jojo tank to assist with water for the garden. The department will also be giving Mbatha family fencing which will be erected to assist with the goat problem.
As part of his social responsibility, MEC Mthembu also donated Paint, painting utensils to Siphephile Creche and handed over food parcels to 30 indigent families from Sthembile Township in Glencoe.
