KwaZulu-Natal Premier Willies Mchunu and the entire executive council will visit Nquthu Local Municipality on the 8th March 2017 as part of Premier's Imbizo.
Mchunu remarked: “Few weeks ago the MEC for Co-Operative Governance and Traditional Affairs Nomusa Dube-Ncube presented a comprehensive report on Nquthu Local Municipality and what should be done to turn things around. This was adopted by the provincial executive council for implementation.”
“We reiterate our commitment to make the local government work better and bring the people to the centre of our programmes for service delivery. It is our view that the local government sphere has to remain the centre of popular democratic participation in the delivery of services to all our people.”
“We want to usher in a new era of prosperity in Nquthu.
As guided by the Provincial Growth and Development Plan, we are moving with speed to intervene in sectors of the economy as part of efforts aimed at job creation.”
“I have committed myself as co-chair of the KZN Growth Coalition to working with captains of industry to drive economic development in Nquthu. Our visit to this municipality underpins our commitment as government to eradicate poverty from our communities.
We refuse as government to allow poverty to co-exist with prosperity.”
