KwaZulu-Natal started the 2017 academic year on a sombre note following a road accident in Ntuzuma and heavy rains that destroyed houses resulting in the death of two learners from Haladu Primary School in Nquthu.
Members of KwaZulu-Natal executive council have been with families of the deceased during this difficult period.
Acting Premier Sihle Zikalala remarked:
“Today, the MEC for Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation BongiSithole-Moloi and MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development Themba Mthembu including local leadership are attending the funeral of Bitumelo Khanyile (10) and Muzi Sithole(7). The funeral is taking place in Haladu Open Fields in Nquthu.
“MEC Sithole-Moloi has been with the families and has assisted with funeral arrangements in partnership with the private sector. We appreciate the support that members of the community has extended to the families during this traumatic period.”
MEC Sithole-Moloi remarked: “The death of the two childChildn Nquthu is a story that has filled our hearts with anguish and deep pain. We convey our condolences to the families of the two children. We say My Child is Your Child...Your Child is your Child."
"Equally, we wish those who were injured when their houses collapsed speedy recovery.”
