The office of the Premier is concerned about the perpetual error that media houses are making when reporting on the story involving the arrests of officials within the office of the Premier.
Despite being corrected via many statements before, the media keep referring to one of the accused officials as the Personal Assistant to the Premier. This continues despite clarity from the Hawks and what is written on the indictment.
We once and for last would like to clarify that Ms Zakwe is not the PA to the Premier. She is a PA to a Director in one of the Business Units within the Office of the Premier.
The media we trust is fully conversant with the configuration of our provincial administration. While the “Office of the Premier is reffered to in law as an “office”. It is in fact a department with Branches and Chief Directorates. These units have staff and PAs to DDGs, Chief Directors, Directors. Not every PA in the Office of the Premier is a “PA” to the Premier.
The Premier has his personal Assistant and is not the one quoted in media articles. This has been repeatedly pointed out before. The media is request to correct this error and publish factually correct reports.
Media is also encouraged to read the indictments than publish fake news that can cast doubt on the integrity of people and institutions. An incorrect news reporting such as this can inflict a lot of reputationional damage and unfairly discredited public figures.
We reiterate once again that None of the people in the list of the accused is a Personal Assistant to Premier Sihle Zikalala. The fact is that no Personal Assistant or PA “of The Premier” or “to the Premier” is among the accused who are currently appearing in the matter referred to in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court.
On the contrary, the facts are that “a For record the Personal Assistant referred to is attached to the Finance Unit.
We also wish to take this opportunity to draw this urgent correction to the attention of all media.
