The Spouse to the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Mrs Nelly Zikalala, today paid a visit to Nombuso Disability Development Centre in Ndwedwe, North of Durban. The centre provides specialized care and education for children with special needs.
“The purpose of our visit here is to provide holistic support to the school, in response to the Covid-19 epidemic which is currently spreading across the globe with devastating consequences,” said Mrs Zikalala.
She, and her delegation which included various government departments, representatives of corporate and social partners, brought various assistance packs, including Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), seedlings for vegetable gardens, and various other forms of assistance.
“We are also here to offer empowerment assistance to the teachers and to promote school gardening, because this will ensure that the school can be self-sufficient,” said Mrs Zikalala.
“We are very proud of the work that has been done by this centre in this deep rural community. We have seen special needs schools in developed areas and big cities, but we are extremely proud of the opportunities provided by Nombuso centre to children with special needs in Ndwedwe,”
